This is South Old Woman River (above photo). Isn't it beautiful? We were pretty excited to go on our first hike of the trip. This photo was taken in Lake Superior Provincial Park in early August 2009.

So this was supposed to be an "easy to moderate" level trail according to park literature. We figured it would be a nice easy stroll... the blue diamond meant something, but we didn't know what. Then we came to the river crossing...

Ha! See that little blue diamond in the background? That's where the trail continued.

Not exactly what we were expecting, and definitely not "easy" by any trail rating system we were familiar with. "Moderate" was more like it. Anyway, it was worth the scramble.
The lesson? If you go out for a hike, be prepared to encounter rough terrain at some point. This lesson holds true for any journey or adventure you embark upon in life, be it travelling or in business.
